Say what you like about Thomas Jones, he had the heart to gut it out.
" Last season we saw how many series that were only Thomas Jones, seriously." I don't see that happening even once in Benson's career." I say bench him, and do it now.
"I am sorry, but the run out of bounds just confirmed it" - Yep, that was horrible. He could have easily gotten another 2+ yards on that play. But instead of making contact he ran out of bounds.
"the kid just does not have what it takes to be a Chicago Bear running back" - Ummm...
think back to our RBs for most of the last 2 decades. I think Benson kind of fits the mold. I'd like to think of Jones as being some sort of a fluke (plus he wasn't drafted by the Bears).
Yes I definitely agree that Benson is looking worse than he is because of our line. However, its not all the line's fault. Benson gives up too quickly and, for the most part, does nothing other than pick a direction and run.
No improvising. I don't follow college football too much but isn't that what Benson did primarily in school? If that is all he truely is then due to our oline we're probably 2+ years away from having a new line capable of giving him what he needs to just simply run straight ahead and have success.
IMO Benson better improve or we'll be looking into FA for a new RB this offseason.
