CARLSBAD The newly formed Engineering Explorer Post 206 will hold an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in room 3 of the Pecos River Village Conference Center, 711 Muscatel Dr.

The Boy Scouts of America Explorer program, open to 14-20-year-olds who have completed eighth grade, will be explained. Several local engineers will be on hand to discuss engineering career opportunities. An engineering contest will be held.

For more information, call 706-4200. CARLSBAD There will be a Comprehensive Plan Workshop for all Eddy County Commissioners, elected officials and department heads beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Thursday in the Eddy County Commission Chambers, 101 W. Greene Street, Suite 211. The purpose of this workshop is to evaluate and prioritize goals and strategies.

CARLSBAD Eddy County Vector Control will be having aerial spraying done for mosquitoes in the next few days in sections of Dark Canyon, Lil McKittrick Draw and Hackberry Draw in Carlsbad.

Sections of Eagle Draw and the Penasco Draw will be sprayed in Artesia. The spray is environmentally friendly and causes on harm to other insects or wildlife. Check for standing water on your property and empty any you find to help keep mosquitoes and West Nile Virus to a minimum.

CARLSBAD Fox and Walnut Church of God, 1109 W. Fox, will have and enchilada plate fundraiser at 10 a.m.

Friday. Plates are $6 and will consist of three cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, bread and salad. Dine-in, carry-out and in-town delivery are available.
