Johnny Gaddaar is a thriller with an interesting plot line revolving around five men who come from different backgrounds, different age groups etc. The five of them decided to come together with money as the common motivating factor, they all want to make big bucks quickly and easily, even if it means doing a few underhand and illegal things. The youngest guy in the gang is Vikram who is a smart, smooth and sophisticated lad.

He knows what he wants and goes after it. Vikram used to work in the stock market before he was fired for mishandling some of his client’s money. Nonetheless Vikram is ready to take another chance to make big bucks and he does not mind doing this illegally.

Vikram is in love with his college sweetheart Mini (Rimi Sen) and dreams of spending their remaining lives living in luxury after he makes one final big gamble that will ensure they have enough money for the rest of their lives. Mini loves Vikram too, but she is also afraid of his ambition and this new gang that he is a part of. But she also has a deep dark secret of her own which may change her world if it comes out in the open.

Prakash is the next member of the gang and used to run a gambling club, but it’s his own gambling addiction that has led to his downfall. Prakash was running his club but managed to get into dangerous waters when his gambling debts threatened to pull him under, but just in the nick of time he was bailed out by two members who are now his partners in the club. But they too have their own agenda.

Now the club has a number of wealthy clients and the stakes are even higher. Due to his gambling club business, Prakash is well acquainted with the underworld. He is married to a simple beautician Varsha who is always worried about her husband and his shady associates.

Seshadri (Dharmendra) is one of the guys who bailed out Prakash during his crisis. He is also the unofficial leader of the group as he was the one who brought all of them together and formed the gang. Seshadri is a former gangster with a heart of gold.

He quit the illegal business after he was imprisoned for a few years for smuggling. However Seshadri’s personal cross was the death of his wife due to cancer, ever since he lost faith in the Almighty, but he has moved on and now brings together these like minded individuals who can use their talents and skills to further their personal interests. Seshadri has been on the wrong side of the law before and he is not afraid to cross the line once more.

Shardul is one of the most ruthless guys in the gang but he manages to conceal his demeanor by outward appearances. He use to run a sleazy dance bar which used to get him good business. But due to the ban on dance bars by the government, he has had to renovate his sleazy dance bar into a cool hangout joint for the young crowds.

The place is frequented by rich kids and the new BPO crowds with lots of spending cash. But Shardul has no clue how to cater to these young guns and hence he enlists the help of Vikram to help him run this hangout. A guy who knows how to play dirty if necessary, Shardul has made many contacts with the underworld and he has also made his place with the cops.

Daya, the final member of the gang is brutal, strong and sharp. He has no qualms with using his strength to put people in their place if they mess with him. He gets his strength and agility from his wrestling forefathers.

He does the strong arm tactics for the gang. He takes care of his old and ailing mother who is currently in hospital. This gang of five members has come together for the sole purpose of making big money, but each also has their own agenda.

The gang gets the chance to finally make big bucks when they get a seemingly simple contract which will ironically make them all rich overnight. So the gang plans their moves, for making a simple exchange of contraband for money. But things take a turn for the worse with each gang member having their own plans for the booty.

Things fall apart further when one of the gang members gets killed and the booty has mysteriously disappeared. The other members naturally become suspicious of each other, who is the one amongst them who has deceived them? Will each one of their motives come forth in this thriller which has an eclectic mix of crime, love, betrayal, murder, greed?

Johnny Gaddaar is an intriguing tale that will launch newcomer Neil Nitin Mukesh son of Nitin Mukesh and grandson of singer Mukesh, Rimi Sen will be seen after a long hiatus and veteran actor Dharmendra has a prominent role in the film.
