How about Mexi-MO? The Mexicans are coming, the Mexicans are coming!

Oh my, what are all the Reds going to do when their vote is diluted by our fine Mexican friends? The Mexicans are coming, the Mexicans are coming. God save all the Pat Buchannons and FOX news junkies in our world.

How about Los Lobos Elementary? Let's not forget the population that has expanded us to this level, now!

Field Mom wrote on May 16, 2007 2:07 AM:
I think we should name it after Norine Moffit who is retiring this year. She has done a wonderful jon at Field and I think this is a great way to honor her.

ask the children wrote on May 13, 2007 6:19 PM:
First of all I would not cut out football, or softball, or baseball, tennis or any other activities, at this point it actually gives the children something to do other than drugs, so lets move on above that, lets just name the school, I really think that it should be a contest among the kids, they would feel a huge impact and treasure it forever knowing they helped name it.

Do a survey then take the top few and narrow it down from there. Taxes will never go away, so that is a lost battle dispute..

The names should stay what they have been for years.

Changing them is killing the history of the system. What do the kids have to look forward to now. They are Neosho Wildcats from day one.

And Goodman should stay the pirates, why kill them too. Just because Joplin, Webb City, CJ and Seneca have done it does not mean that Neosho needs to. I am proud of being a Benton Red Fox and A Goodman Pirate.

Let's keep the tradition alive.

How about Elvis Presley Elementary? He was a fine Christian entertainer and humanitarian and meant so much to the residents of Neosho.

How about the "Waltzing Bears"? That would show respect for our heritage of dancing and bear watching. Two things that I have really enjoyed here.

Julie Browning (Kelly) wrote on May 10, 2007 7:28 AM:
I think it should be after one Neosho Greats. Mrs. Freund who was the principal of Benton school for decades.

She was an inspraration to the students who knew her. Zig Ziglar has a quote "Ability can take you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there." She had a passion for her students.

She is a woman who is greatly missed.

I like Westside Elementary or Bluebird Elementary.

I don't think it should be named after any individual, because an agreement would be hard to reach.

Always Right wrote on May 8, 2007 10:47 AM:
Why not just name it Spring River Elementary

TS wrote on May 3, 2007 8:22 PM:
I agree that the childern should have a say in naming the new school. I ask my 10 year old what he thought of it.

He ask me what side of town in would be on, and we both agree that Westside Elementary saids really good. But it is be located on Norway. So Norway Elementary seems to be a reasonable name also.

Little Churchie Elementary, for all the ignoramuses around here who place zero value on the seperation of church and state. Maybe even, Lil' Jesus Elementary! Then everyone can move on up and attend "Mind-Virus" University and worship all sorts of mythological creatures!

!

Contest wrote on May 3, 2007 9:57 AM:
Why not have a contest to name the school? Involve the community.

List the names on the school website and have people go to the website to vote!

davis wrote on May 2, 2007 7:48 PM:
i think the school should be named after mary louise davis look back what all she did for keeping memories of neosho, read her book, bits and pieces of neosho she deserves this honor please give it to her

Dogwood Elementary wrote on Apr 30, 2007 9:44 AM:
Because Neosho is known for the beautiful Dogwood trees and has an annual Dogwood Tour. My suggestion would be to plant beautiful Dogwood trees in the landscaping.

I do not think it should be named after "somebody" as there are too many deserving people and there would be so many left out. Hazel Studdard PS, I have 3 suggested names altogether and I like Bluebird Elementary because I attended Jaybird School [ in that area] for seven years but Bluebird is the State Bird and is prettier. I think that my third suggestion is the best and it is: Horizon Elementary and I think it speaks for itself !

CJ wrote on Apr 29, 2007 6:09 PM:
Name it, Page Elementary, after Dr. Page who is the current Superintendent and overseeing so much of the construction and funding.

Name it "MO MONEY", thats all this community seems to ask for.

I am tired of paying higher taxes for new schools, if they need funds that bad why dont they cut out so many extra curricular activites such as Football???

Pork or Waste. They should have built a high school out there. Gave the high school to the grade schools.

I vote for Mrs.

Sale. What a sweet, kind and gracious lady she was. She was my kindergarten teacher at the old CRC building.

She instilled in me a lifelong love of books and gave me a very gentle and loving start in school. Neosho Mom wrote on Apr 19, 2007 9:26 AM:

I think West Elementary keeps it from getting political. I also agree that it would be nice to have monuments or plaques at every Neosho school dedicated to different teachers who have gone above and beyond and impacted the lives of their students.

Poppy wrote on Apr 18, 2007 5:05 PM:
I have a name that will not be political,no money, not step on any toes. I will agree that the some other commenters had some of the greatest teachers that any of us could have plus Mrs Land,Mrs Ball,Coach Lane-Kelly-Lentz-Shorter-M M Wilson etc. yes the list is endless for us who attended Neosho School System from start to finish, our kids from start to finish and now some of us grandchildren OH some others 4th maybe 5th generations.

Enough the Name: West Elementary for the west side of town just like South School is South, Central is Centered,Benton named after the old school which Benton Street south of there could have ran by,Middle School in the Middle but of course the Middle Grades. However there is no reason why we can not have mounments for teachers that taught the class levels the new WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL will have by our flag poleS!!

! P.S.

John Fanks own land west by Jim Service Last Account Henson had the Land but that was then

I think it should be named after someone that made an impact on the community being an individual or family, it saddens me to have something named after someone who is already deceased, I think there are alot of families living and individuals that do volunteer or has put forth many many hours to the community and the children in general. Although I am afraid with that it will become political AGAIN on who has the most money, or who has this or that instead of looking at the impact from the children. I think the children should be answering these questions, they are the ones that know who spends the most time with them or who they recognize as a dedicated person or family.

I myself think Ms. Sale was a totally awesome teacher and I had her almost 30 years ago. She made a big impact on me, but then again so did the most recent teachers that are still there.

I like the way the softball fields were dedicated to Wicks, and Keeling, they were very athletically involved, but who is involved in the school in general?

Stymie wrote on Apr 16, 2007 6:03 PM:
Sale Elementary would be an appropriate name in honor of Margaret Sale who taught Kindergarten at Central Elementary for several years.

How about Fink Elementary?

Since the land was owned by Mr. Fink at one time.

Either name it after Tim Hardy or Waldo Hatler.

What should the name of the Neosho R-5 School District's new elementary school be, and why?

What message would you like to leave for John Ford, who assumed the position of managing editor of The Daily News on April 19?
