May 6. Tickets are $40. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will present a wide range of musical sounds and styles next weekend.

French pianist Jean-Philippe Collard makes his long-overdue Pittsburgh Symphony debut performing Maurice Ravel's unusual Piano Concerto for Left Hand, written for a pianist who lost his right arm in World War I. Principal guest conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier will offer a Parisian's take on George Gershwin's "An American in Paris." And baritone Randall Scarlata and the Mendelssohn Choir will join the instrumentalists for "The Here and Now" by symphony composer of the year Christopher Theofanidis.

The concerts start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.

"Spider-Man 3" swings into theaters everywhere on Friday, with Tobey Maguire back as the web-slinging super hero. This time, he faces Thomas Haden Church as The Sandman and Topher Grace as Venom. He also has to contend with a nemesis more psychological than physical -- his own arrogance.

James Franco and Kirsten Dunst also star. But "Always ..

Marlana Dunn, a senior at Point Park University, plays Cline. Appearing as her loyal fan is veteran Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera performer Terry Wickline. The CLO Cabaret in Theater Square is at 655 Penn Ave.
