But as the Spice Girls announced their reunion tour last week, one of the things they wouldn't stop talking about was the childcare arrangements. We're definitely going to have a huge creche, raved Posh.

Our priority is going to be our families. That's one of the many reasons for this, for our children to see what we used to do. Creche facilities will accompany them round the globe on their 11-date comeback tour, which kicks off in Los Angeles in December.

Baby Spice Emma Bunton is heavily pregnant and, with Posh's three boys leading the team, there are six Spice offspring already in existence. The Spice Girls would argue that, as always, they are simply starting a trend. Mamarama veterans who have recorded albums instead of taking maternity leave include ex-Sugababe Mutya, Jamelia and Nelly Furtado.

Meanwhile, there is a movement in the US of 'punky mommies' forming bands with their kids: punk legend Patti Smith regularly jams with her son and daughter and Neneh Cherry has recorded with her four musician children. We can only hope the Spice Girls don't hear about this.
