Tight security ahead of Diana gig The Concert for Diana is intended to reflect the princess's life Police have urged music fans to arrive early at London's Wembley Stadium amid tight security ahead of a memorial concert for Diana, Princess of Wales. Up to 63,000 ticket-holders are expected at the Concert For Diana, intended to celebrate her life, on what would have been her 46th birthday. It is 10 years since the princess died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

Sir Elton John and Take That are among those performing at the show, organised by Prince William and Prince Harry. Police said security at the event had been stepped up in the light of the recent attacks on London and Glasgow. About 450 officers will be on duty at the event, Scotland Yard said, with delays anticipated due to an increase in police searches.

To assist security staff with this process ticket-holders are being advised to take the minimum amount of items with them, and be vigilant. Prince William and Prince Harry attended the revamped stadium on Sunday where they thanked performers Nelly Furtado and Duran Duran for taking part in the show. "They were very keen that we would keep it upbeat," said John Taylor, of 80s band Duran Duran, adding that the group would be performing hit track Rio - reportedly a favourite of the late princess.

"I thought it was very brave of them to put this show on," said Taylor. "I can only imagine the emotions that there would be putting on this in remembrance." The princes have been overseeing the final preparations Among those taking to the stage on Sunday are Joss Stone, Sir Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Lily Allen and Kanye West.

Sir Elton John is expected to open and close the concert, which begins at 1600 BST. It is rumoured he will perform Candle in the Wind, the track he sang at the princess's funeral. Speaking ahead of the concert last month, Prince William, 25, told BBC presenter Fearne Cotton that he and Harry, 22, wanted to celebrate their mother's life.

"We wanted something that would really bring her whole spirit - her joy of life and everything that we thought she stood for - a bit more to the point," he said. "After ten years there's been a rumbling of people bringing up the bad and over time people seem to forget - or have forgotten - all the amazing things she did and what an amazing person she was.
