The goal of a major record label is to use that MAJOR as a means of breaking people OUT of MINOR. We diversified the content we use to do such to the extent that it no longer is just a 5" that we distribute, but up to 200+ SKU's per release. I am lucky to work for a forward thinking label (and lucky to be in a position where the "thinking" is partly in my head).
At any rate, music = cultural experience. Cultural experience != specific distribution systems.

Time is not a static thing, and trying to eliminate its effect on things, no matter how horrible, will not prop-up its memory. It just makes the memory exist outside temporal reality, which I don't think should be the intention. Ellis Island's restoration made sense, because at one point, when our ancestors came through, it did look as it looks now.
Aushwitz is a relic of the absolute worst of humanity and never did, and never should have an idyllic representation.
