The concert series is seen by a record number of online users Last weekend's Live Earth concerts have notched a new record for the most online viewers of a live event, Sound Generator can report. Delivering a whopping 30 millions streams to date to more than 8 million people, the MSN-backed concerts have overtaken 2005's Live 8 for the honour. London's Wembley Stadium show was the most popular of the lot, with a peak simultaneous viewership of nearly 250,000 people during Madonna's closing performance - coming close to rivalling TV viewership at that time.
The other most popular artists throughout the day included Kelly Clarkson, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rihanna and Shakira. "July 7, 2007, was the greatest day in the history of MSN. Our Live Earth offering has delivered more than 30 million video streams and reached more than 8 million people around the world, a milestone in online history," said Joanne Bradford, corporate vice president and chief media officer of MSN.
