Supermodel Iman Becomes "Project Runway" Host

Toronto, ON (AHN) - Canada's version of the hit fashion reality show "Project Runway" just got injected with a boost of serious star power - supermodel/Africa activist Iman has just signed on as the host.
Iman was in Toronto on Tuesday to announce her decision and told reporters she was confident her years modeling clothing has refined her eye for fashion and a nose for the business.
"I'm not a pushover, but they better be careful," Iman warned her future contestants vying for a shot at the $100,000 prize and chance to launch their own label.


Applicants to "Project Runway" will be whittled down to 12 hopefuls by the season opener.
The U.S.

and U.K. versions of the show have each been very popular, following the 12 young designers on their quewst to land a collection.


As host, Iman will be judge competitors with a top designer co-judge, which has not been announced yet.
In The U.S.

, Michael Kors filled the role, while Julien MacDonald was a judge in the U.K.
Iman, originally from Somalia, owns a line of cosmetics, is a high-profile African rights campaigner and is married to rock legend David Bowie.
