I was able to say that I had heard about it on the radio - and that was about it. I was then unable to get back to sleep so I had breakfast, a nice Guatemalan coffee and then some reading of on line news items:
This was a recent find and it seems quite good. I then spent some time watching tv, listening to music and then started to read more of a new book I have started to read.

It is one of a series, in fact the fourth about the Rome policeman Nic Costa - I highly recommend the author to anyone who likes things Italian -
It does seem that many non Italians, enjoy writing and creating illusions of Italy, Rome and Venice especially. Enjoy the books they are a good read I think. Every year, the BBC shows highlights of the Tattoo and every year it is wonderfully well received in person by the audience on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle and by the many many millions who watch it on television, video and dvd
There are, as you may imagine, lots of Scottish things and tartan, but it is an inetrnational event.

Each year they participants from around the world. Dancers from Scotland, South Africa and Chile - Kung Fu Masters from China - Army bands from Chile, New Zealand, The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas and The Royal Regiment of Scotland, the Kevock Choir and the Massed Choirs of the Tattoo and of course the Massed Pipes and Drums ( made up of no less than 13 military detatchments). Holy Mackerel, what a show!

I have to admit that whenever I see it, I do become slightly emotional and start to think of the long history and heritage of my country, Scotland. We are a small Kingdom on the north western periphery of Europe - but we seem to be know around the globe and not just for whisky, tartan or bagpipes.
BB7 was full of twists and changes, I am told.

People coming, going and then even returning much to public and house annoyance. The winner was Pete Bennett who suffers from Tourette Syndrome.
Will this be a good thing to raise the awareness of the condition, or is it that there was a sympathy vote for Pete?

With over 60% of the vote it may be both and of course a genuine liking for the guy.
I am not sure why, but I felt the inclination to show a picture of me and the Reformers. It was another Sunday of wet weather and thunder but it suddenly became much brighter.

For the record they are (from left to right as you look at it) Farel, Calvin, Beze and Knox - so there are two Scots in the picture. John Knox and myself The picture was taken in Geneva (Genf/Geneve) and the monument is huge over 200 metres long and as you can see the main protagonists as quite tall too.
The news has been kind of mixed over the weekend.

Lots of stuff being said about the new England football manager s team shortlist for their freindly against Greece - especially the exclusion of David Beckham. Then of course the comments from Steven Gerrard about the World Cup debacle that England went through! Although I have to say that Svennis seems to have been the most consistent manager they have employed and got them through to quite a few major competitions.

However once they get there, their over confidence takes over and it all goes wrong. So the football decision is, the team is not scoring goals therefore the best thing to do is to replace the manager. In this instance, they have appointed that manager s assistant (second choice) and then he appoints a former Manager, Terry venables, as his assistant manager.

Has the world of Association Football in England gone totally mad With a friendly match against Greece coming up, we shall see if the dropping of Beckham, changes in captaincy and new management makes England any better. Could it be more of the same
Elsewhere in the world, there is so much more happening that is more important and life threatening. Take a look at the BBC s website:
It does show some other thnings are going on.

Even a piece about good old Fidel s 80th birthday. There is a piece about the fires in Galicia, North West Spain - for more information check out the following -
This hopefully we be of interest to some of our Spanish readers, or to those who are readers of Spanish. The La Voz de Galicia is a good newspaper, quite balanced mostly.

Enjoy the read. The hotel is the large glass building next to the central rail station located at Sonja Henies Plass. It is a great place to stay, it has a glasss elevator and the view from the 34th floor bar and restaurant is excellent.

Having been in Oslo quite many times previously, I had done many of the normal tourist things - but did enjoy some of the bars and cafes in the city. As ever, Aker Brygge is a good place to eat and relax as is the nearby Akershus Festning.
The city was busy and full of life and is ceratinly a place I like to visit.

I even ventured to Vigelands Scuplture Park - I am not sure what we are to make off this experience - however I can now say I have been to the extravaganza that is the work of Gustav Vigeland!
Finally it was time to come home and that of course brings me to Monday 31 July! As can be seen the beach is quite sandy and only a short walk from the hotel.

In the afternoon, the beach is very busy; as is the promenade that you can see - there is also a tram line running the length of several beachs on this stretch of coast.
There are many great restaurants and cafes - and i am unsure which to use and show you. So to name a few - VIPS, Tivoli, Cambalche and Utopia,
The type of tourists here are different from others in Spain.

These tend to be Gallego and those from elsewhere in Spain. So if you do not speak Castellano you may have some problems.
The city is famous for the Torre de Hercules, which is a lighthouse and was orginally built by the Romans.

It fell into disrepair but has been refurbished and is now a big attraction.
In the winter months it is bleak and very wet - but you still get a good view.

There are many other things to see and do when in La Coruna - however it is a very relaxing place to visit.
