WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex) gave a well-received interview on Bill Maher s Real Time program on HBO May 25. Paul enthusiastically described his faith in the US Constitution and why he voted so often in Congress against the many unconstitutional bills of George Bush and his Republican cronies.

Paul emphasized his anti-Bush, anti-war message of peace and liberty.

Maher and Paul also discussed how George Bush s illegal and immoral Middle Eastern oil wars were causing more hate and terror to be aimed at the United States, a subject which Rudy Giuliani and other Republicans are apparently incapable of understanding.

Paul illustrated why he is a well-read and principled Jeffersonian Republican rather than a demagogic populist Republican like many others.

He discussed how the USA has interfered in other countries for over 100 years, in opposition to the principles on which it was founded.

He showed that the US state was based on restraint at home and abroad in terms of government power, unlike the present out-of-control government of President George Bush.

Paul also noted that overall, the US people remain anti-war, in favor of small government, and laissez faire.

Although most candidates run on a peace platform to appease the electorate, once in office and in the White House, Paul maintained before the appreciative studio audience, they either start or continue wars overseas despite their election promises.

Paul asserted that the war in Iraq was sold to the American people with false information, and the area is more dangerous now than when the US entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them, he says.

I sponsored a bill to overturn the Patriot Act and have won some victories, but today the threat to your liberty and privacy is very real, he says.

We need leadership at the top that will prevent Washington from centralizing power and private data about our lives. The story above is a satire or parody. .
