Betsy Hart is a nationally syndicated columnist for the Scripps Howard News Service. Her column on cultural and family issues, "From the Hart," is distributed each week to hundreds of newspapers across the country. It regularly appears in the Chicago Sun-Times, Denver's Rocky Mountain News, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Boston Herald, and many other publications.

Betsy's first book, It Takes a Parent: How the Culture of Pushover Parenting Is Hurting Our Kids ￯﾿ᄑ and What to Do About It, was published in September 2005 and was a top seller for its publisher (Putnam Books). It was endorsed by Bill Bennett, Laura Ingraham, Kate O'Beirne, and other leading public figures, and received tremendous media attention and praise. Betsy is a frequent guest on television and radio, including FOX News Channel shows like "Hannity and Colmes," offering her insights on the news events of the day.

Betsy was a regular guest on ABC's long-running hit show Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and in an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Betsy was featured as one of America's top five women columnists. Betsy will soon launch her own radio program, It Takes a Parent, featuring commentary and common sense insights on parenting and family life, on Chicago Christian talk radio station WYLL/AM 1160 (Salem Communications). Previously, Betsy served on the Reagan White House staff as a spokeswoman in the office of media relations.

Betsy is raising her four young children in suburban Chicago. She's an avid weight lifter and downhill skier. Betsy enjoys a good red wine, and she prefers to spend time with people who have seen every single episode of Seinfeld (and can readily recite the best laugh lines), would actually appreciate a little global warming, love Rod Stewart, and say things to their kids like "don't interrupt ￯﾿ᄑ the grown-ups are talking.
