Elizabeth Bathory story is one of legend and to this point hasn't been covered very much. We did get a glimpse of her in Eli Roth's Hostel: Part II bathing in the blood of unforunate back packers. Bathory's legend was also explored in the recently released Hellboy: Blood Iron DVD.
Now Bathory will be presented in not one but two biopics. Juraj Jakubisko's film Bathory is much farther along and is now finishing up with editing. His film is said to be epic with a budget of $14.
5 million and a run time of 2 hours, 22 minutes. Yea OK, that doesn't make it sound epic but supposedly the film will have more than 20 different castles and chateaus, with 120 speaking characters and thousands of extras. Add to that a couple battle scenes and yea thats definetly epic.
The film also already has a small website that has a little synopsis and some photos. Julie Delpy's The Countess is just getting off the ground and her film will study exactly what Bathory's mind set was. It also sounds like she may try and link all of the murders to others that surrounded Bathory at her time of reign.
