TELEVISION is a fickle game so Channel Seven is crossing its fingers that Michelle Ryan can match the sex appeal of Lindsay Wagner. Those ancient enough to remember the 1970s will recall Wagner's heroic, fast running but literally unbelievable antics as The Bionic Woman. Now Ryan, best known for her stint as Zoe Slater on EastEnders, stars in a re-imagination of the series, which was originally a spin-off of The Six Million Dollar Man.
That sort of money was an unimaginable fortune when the original series was made but would be lucky to pay for much more than one episode of the television series now. The other US series Seven is pinning its hopes on is another NBC Universal production Lipstick Jungle, from the makers of Sex and the City. It stars Brooke Shields as a movie executive trying to balance career and family.
