GARY OLDMAN is now considered cool by his kids thanks to Harry Potter. The Batman Begins star, who returns to the role of Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, says the franchise has made him popular with his children s friends. They love me being in the Harry Potter films, says Gary.

I m now part of a phenomenon and you become incredibly cool to your kids. You get a young fan base, so you become the cool dad at school. Gary, who was brought up by his mum and two older sisters after his dad left home when he was seven, also reveals his sadness at his father s death, 23 years ago.

In the interview for this month s Empire, which goes on sale today, he says he had just been reconciled with his dad when he died. I ve had a good life, he says. And my dad would have liked to share it, to travel, come on set, and be abroad.

I d have liked him to share some of that come to New York on Concorde. He d have got a kick out of all that. NI_MPU('Embedded for DHTML'); Email to a friend GARY OLDMAN is now considered cool by his kids thanks to Harry Potter.
