LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- A true-crime account of a brutal Canadian high school murder written by Rebecca Godfrey is being turned into a feature film by Reese Witherspoon's Type A Films. Director Catherine Hardwicke is in talks to helm the film, titled "Under the Bridge," and there is no word yet whether Witherspoon will star or not, the Daily Variety reported Friday. Godfrey is from the area where the killing took place and she returned to her hometown to research the eight students who were charged in the case.
She investigated the cliques at the high school as well as the life of Virk. Type A bought both the film rights for the book and the life rights to Godfrey's story, and the author herself may become a character in the film, said Variety.
