The Boston Film Festival announced today a new competition for artists to design the 2007 poster that will be placed at theaters and throughout New England. The winning artist will receive a $500 cash prize along with a VIP pass to the 23rd Boston Film Festival on 14-21 September. Some of Boston’s finest restaurants have donated gift certificates as part of the award package including: Legal Seafoods, 33 Restaurant, Strega, Bonfire, Douzo and City Bar at the Lenox Hotel.
Creative Director John Michael Williams said the competition affords artists of all talent levels to go Hollywood and gain national exposure for their artwork. It is a natural fit for the nonprofit festival to draw upon our opulent creative community. The eight day festival will premiere a program of shorts, documentaries and feature films.
Previously announced, there will be a tribute for renowned producer Jerry Weintraub, Oceans Thirteen, when he receives the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award. Robin Dawson, BFF Executive Director added, Boston s architectural beauty is unparalleled and provides artists (and filmmakers) the ideal backdrop. The cache of the film industry provides a unique vehicle for artists to spotlight their designs while contributing to their portfolio.
