DALLAS - A man who may have infected more than 100 young men with the HIV virus and videotaped the encounters will spend the rest of his life in jail.
The trial took place at the Crowley Court House.
The prosecutor trying this case told the jury it was historic because you could actually see Willie Atkins spreading HIV among his partners.
Atkins was convicted of attempting to entice a 15-year-old to have sex with him.
But his criminal past, his tendency to have unprotected sex, even though he has AIDS, and his own videotapes, led the jury to bump his sentence up to life in prison.
It definitely raised emotions.
We were definitely inflamed by it. That's not in question at all, but we were really trying to be diligent about this and not let our emotions take hold, said juror John Savage.
Atkins' pastor was also in court today.
While the prosecution tried to imply the sexual partners in Atkins home videos were children - he said there was no evidence proving that.
