Steven Roseberry said he heard his brother's ex-girlfriend Dana M. Gilliam threatening to kill his brother, who died of a stab wound early Thursday morning. A court hearing was continued yesterday, giving Gilliam time to hire a lawyer.

She's being charged with the murder of her ex-boyfriend, Timothy Roseberry. During an argument between the couple, Gilliam grabbed a steak knife and stabbed Roseberry near the heart, Gilliam's relatives said. He was found dead early Thursday morning near Gilliam's home on East New Circle Road.

Roseberry's brother, Steven, said that during a family reunion last Saturday, Gilliam was arguing with his brother. "She told him, 'I'm going to get you for this,'" Steven Roseberry said. "And she said, 'You know, I could kill you.

'" Steven Roseberry said his brother wasn't a monster. "He was not a jewel, but he wasn't violent," Steven said. We've never known Tim to hit a woman.

" Court records show Gilliam and Timothy Roseberry's history included domestic abuse and violence. Roseberry was indicted by a Fayette County grand jury in July 2005 on charges including fourth-degree assault, domestic violence (third offense), violation of a July 2004 protective order, fleeing and evading police, disorderly conduct and alcohol intoxication. The indictment said Roseberry caused physical injury to Gilliam in May 2005.

He had been convicted of the same crime in July 2004 and December 2004, court records said. Gilliam's family said Roseberry showed up at their home, but Steven Roseberry said his brother lives there. "How can you break into a place you live in?

" Steven Roseberry asked. Mary Rogers, Roseberry's mother, said her son was a jolly person and would go out of his way to help people. Every week he would call her, just to tell her, "I love you," Rogers said.

"He was an awful good person," she said. Gilliam's next court date is at 8:30 a.m.

Roseberry leaves behind two daughters, two brothers and his mother. His funeral is 2 p.m.
