So much to write about, so little time. Academy Awards coming up, American Idol kicking in (already got a fave, but more about that in a future blog), the Bachelor season finale on Monday (forgive me, but I just might have to blog about that too), the Olympics (Sasha rules!), March Madness around the corner (Go Tigers!
). Good times. Good times.
But let's get some business out of the way...
..
Here's my thoughts for the next Oscar category.
...
this year's nominees for Original Screenplay (Best Writing based on Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen):
Who are the nominees for Original Screenplay?
Crash - Screenplay by Paul Haggis and Robert Moresco
Good Night, and Good Luck - Screenplay by George Clooney and Grant Heslov
Match Point - Screenplay by Woody Allen
The Squid and the Whale - Screenplay by Noah Baumbach
Syriana - Screenplay by Stephen Gaghan
Have I seen all the nominated films in this category?
You betcha!
What do I think of the above list of nominated films? Was anybody snubbed?
Craig Brewer for Hustle Flow and Angus MacLachlan for the excellent, but under-the-radar Junebug.
Mike Binder's work for The Upside of Anger is noteworthy as well, but overall, I'm happy with the nominees.
Who do I think SHOULD win?
Woody Allen for Match Point.
Simply a superb piece of work. He's back.
Who do I think WILL win?
Unfortunately, the overrated, but riding on a wave of momentum, Crash will win. I found the screenplay overbearing and pretentious; beating me over the head with its multiple messages. Haggis should've backed off just a tad, then maybe I would have been more appreciative.
