Darby leads the gang as they use their “supersleuth” skills to solve mysteries in Winnie-the-Pooh’s world; typical episodes involve Rabbit’s disappearing rutabagas or Tigger’s missing shadow. Each show contains two segments that are about 15 minutes long, and my son said his favorite part of the show was the sleuthing. Perhaps I have a future “CSI” fan in my house.

The show is done in CG graphics, and truth be told, I was a bit put off by Darby’s giant, shiny eyes — they were a little too reminiscent of a Keane painting for me. But overall, for kids who enjoy the Hundred Acre Wood (and Lumpy the adorable heffalump, a Pooh movie companion who turns up in the new TV series), “My Friends Tigger and Pooh” is a gentle and enjoyable addition to the roster of decent TV shows for kids. By the way, these are just a few of the favored kids’ shows in our house (I know I don’t write about kids’ programming enough, but here are one family’s recommendations, most of which come from Noggin and Nick Jr.

): “The Wonder Pets!,” “Dora the Explorer,” “Go, Diego, Go!,” “The Wiggles,” “Jack’s Big Music Show,” “The Backyardigans,” “Little Einsteins,” “Blues Clues” and “Blue’s Room.

” I really enjoy “Charlie and Lola,” “Maisie” and “Max and Ruby,” but my son has left those gentler shows behind for hipper fare from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon: “Ben 10” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” usually occupy the half hour per day that he’s allowed to watch TV. I dread the day he starts to watch tweener fare such as “Drake and Josh,” but I must prepare for it. Some parents have resigned themselves to the fact that their kids love those overly precious preteen shows — even Larry David, the peerless grump of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is appearing (as himself) on the May 18 edition of the Disney Channel tween hit “Hannah Montana.

” What’s next, Michael Chiklis of “The Shield” on “That’s So Raven”? The mind reels. in Kids TV | Permalink | Comments (2) Powered by TypePad Darby leads the gang as they use their “supersleuth” skills to solve mysteries in Winnie-the-Pooh’s world; typical episodes involve Rabbit’s disappearing rutabagas or Tigger’s missing shadow.
