Hollywood star Cameron Diaz cannot understand why people want to have plastic surgery to change their looks, because she believes going under the knife destroys a person s character.
The Charlie s Angels actress was forced to have her nose fixed last year after she started to experience breathing problems, but insists she will never choose to alter her features, even when she grows older.
She says, Urgh!
Have you seen those shows where ordinary people want to look like Britney Spears or Brad Pitt? What on earth possesses them to want to destroy their own character? To go under the knife to do that, well, it s sick.
I had to have work on my nose for a deviated septum, but I would never do anything else. I think beauty comes from inside. When I see women who have had plastic surgery I find it unnerving.
All I can see is the surgery. The person who has had it has vanished. I don t want to look like that.
Apparently, even dating Justin Timberlake isn t enough to keep Cameron Diaz on cloud nine. In a new interview with Jeanne Wolf of movies.com, the Charlie s Angel calls her last couple of years “hell” and “so hard.
” (Like, she can’t even tell you.)
Diaz, 34, also goes into the difficulties of overcoming prejudice against pretty people. (Indeed, it is so hard.
Like, we can’t even tell you.)
See below for excerpts from the interview in which Cam shares her eco-friendly vision for Shrek 4 and why surfing is a religious experience.
The last couple of years were hell.
Like, I can t even tell you, it was so hard. I didn t know how to handle it. But I think I m in a much better place now, because I stepped away for a second and took a breath.
Hollywood is a funny place. It offers so much, but it can also take a lot away from you.
If a woman who s a successful actress weighs 300 pounds and has warts, nobody ever asks her, Do you think you made it because you re ugly?
So why should there be prejudice against someone who s had some success in films and looks a little better than average. It s all in my genes, so don t hold it against me.
I was just there doing a lot of surfing.
I love it. It s definitely a spiritual experience, the closest you can get to Mother Nature, which is God to me. You get to ride all this energy that s traveled across the ocean for thousands of miles, and you get to usher this distant traveler to its destination on the shore.
I felt strongly that I didn t want Fiona to come off as naggy. I hate naggy.
For the next Shrek, I d like to create the ideal kingdom of Far Far Away, where there would be no carbon emissions … work an eco-friendly message into the story.
Maybe the swamp could be in danger from an environmental disaster or something.
This past weekend Hollywood migrated to the Coachella Valley music festival, which took place in Indio, California, and our Hollyscoop snoopers were there to get us the scoop.
Everyone from Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Kelly Osbourne, Kimberly Stewart, and Lindsay Lohan all made sure to stop by for the annual music festival.
Unfortunately, there weren t any catfights, not even when Paris Hilton was spotted chatting with Lindsay Lohan s former boyfriend Harry Morton.
This wasn t the only time Paris hung out with Harry. Our Hollyscoop snoopers tell us exclusively that the pair hung out at the Armani after hours party at the GQ lounge at the Viceroy hotel.
Paris even put on a dance show for a group of guys which included Harry, who sat back and watched.
Other star sightings at the festival included Cameron Diaz hanging out with her Angel Drew Barrymore, Tara Reid, Courtney Love and Jessica Alba with her beau Cash Warren, who were a little too affectionate for the cameras.
On the opening night one of the most anticipated acts was Amy Winehouse, who drew in the largest crowd.
The tent wasn t large enough to accompany all the Winehouse fans. This British star is definitely leaving her mark on America. There was also a lot of buzz surrounding the engagement ring she was sported.
Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson also took the stage performing with Jesus Mary Chain.
The most visual act was Bjork, who is still a fashion nightmare, but definitely knows how to move the crowd. Other great acts included British import Lily Allen, who closed the festival with a Smile .
