Jack the lad ...
Sparrow, right, pulls the ladies CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow has taken JOHNNY DEPP to the World s End but he has revealed that is not far enough. The third Pirates Of The Caribbean movie was expected to be the last.
But in an exclusive interview for The Sun, Hollywood A-lister Johnny tells us he is not ready to hang up Jack s tricorn hat or hand in his broken compass just yet.
He says: I ve never really felt I m done with playing the character, so why shouldn t we try a fourth and a fifth?
If I were approached to play Captain Jack again, under the right circumstances you know, with all the right and proper elements involved and a good script, I would definitely give it some serious thought.
It proves just how much the quick-witted pirate means to the actor.
Before making the Pirates trilogy movie maverick Johnny, 43, had a strict rule against doing even a single sequel.
But the pirate is different. Johnny admits he even asked for a few more takes of what was meant to be his final scene as Jack because he could not bear to say goodbye to the character.
He smiles as he explains: It was one of those moments where you are just doing anything you can to postpone it.
I remember going to GORE VERBINSKI, the director, and he was saying, I think we ve got everything man but do you want another take?
And I d say Yeah, yeah, let s do another take.
Let me try something else.
Then once we d got it I said to him, Are you sure there is nothing else we can shoot?
I d been that person for umpteen months and I didn t want to say goodbye, it was very strange.
Afterwards we had a big cake and champagne. It was very moving.
Even though we finished the third film roughly six months ago I still don t have distance on it.
Fans don t want to say goodbye either. The second in the Pirates series, Dead Man s Chest, is the third biggest box office success of ALL TIME. And there are high expectations for At World s End, which is released today.
Yet despite the huge success of the films and despite a 23-year career including lead roles in hits Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Brasco and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and two Oscar nominations Johnny still fears that one day he will fail.
Johnny, currently filming Sweeney Todd in London with director Tim Burton, says: You are always waiting for that moment when your old friend comes up and says By the way, you re fired. Sorry!
This seems unlikely for an actor who is such a big draw that his name was enough to tempt hard-living ROLLING STONES guitarist KEITH RICHARDS to try acting.
Captain Jack s distinctive voice and moves were partly inspired by wild rocker Richards, who Johnny has idolised since boyhood.
So when Richards said yes to the offer of a cameo in At World s End as Jack s dad, Johnny could not believe his luck.
The music lover, who wanted to be a rock star before deciding on acting, says: God, it was great. He was just so cool.
I mean, seeing Keith Richards arrive for work, totally prepared like, beautiful, at 7.
30, 8 o clock in the morning. It s like, What?
What a professional, man.
He came in and just smoked us.
He was amazing. Just amazing.
And adorable. This crew have been working together since 2002 when we did the first film and it s the first time that I ve seen the entire crew show up on set. So instead of 200 people it was like 500 or 1,000.
We were all peeking, trying to get a glimpse of the maestro.
Johnny says he and the rest of the crew were amazed at Keith s ability in front of the cameras despite little experience in this type of environment.

The star says: He was like, Oh, so I stand here and say this and then I walk over here and do this and it was, Yeah, that would be great. And then it was two takes and Gore was like Oh OK, next. I started calling him Two-Take Richards.
The two men hung out together during the shoot, although Johnny found himself getting tongue-tied in the presence of his hero.
Johnny says: We spent a bunch of time together. But it would get to a certain point and I d clam up. On one level there s this guy Keith and he s a terrific guy to hang out with and he s a really wonderful man.
But there s always that sort of thing that reverberates with me he is one of my guitar heroes and I can never escape that.
The rocker is just one of many Brits in the cast including Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Jack Davenport, Bill Nighy, Mackenzie Crook, Naomie Harris and Jonathan Pryce. Johnny says he has become good friends with the British actors, particularly This Life star Davenport.
He said: On Pirates one my gravest enemy was Jack Davenport as Commodore Norrington and we were the best of mates off set.
I ve always had a good thing with the Brits. It s the sense of humour.
Johnny lives with Vanessa Paradis and their children Lily-Rose, seven, and son Jack, five, in France and Los Angeles.
But the family also spends a lot of time in Britain. He says: I ve always felt at home in London.
For my kids it s like a second or third home, they are so used to it here.
I mean, in certain restaurants and certain places we go, they are on a first-name basis.
Johnny says: Jack s brought a lot of good things into my world and into my kiddies world.
So I will always hold him in very high regard.
