The hot button topic of gay weddings becomes the basis for the romantic comedy Wedding Wars, debuting on DVD June 26 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The TV movie stars two of television’s hottest doctors – John Stamos (TV’s "ER”) and Eric Dane (TV’s "Grey’s Anatomy”) -- along with Bonnie Somerville (TV’s "Grosse Pointe,” "The O.C.

”) and James Brolin (TV’s "The Reagans”). The bonus features include the featurette Gays on Strike: The Truth Behind Wedding Wars and the DVD will be available for $24.96 SRP.

Shel Grandy (Stamos), a gay party planner, is asked by his straight brother Ben (Dane) to organize his wedding to Maggie Welling (Somerville). But when Governor Welling (Brolin), who is Ben’s boss and Maggie’s father, speaks out against gay marriage, Ben decides to go on strike. The wedding is almost off when Maggie sides with Shel, while Shel’s boyfriend Ted (Sean Maher) supports Ben’s position.

Shel’s stand becomes the focus of national media attention with gays across the country striking for equal rights.
Wedding Wars, selected by Entertainment Weekly as a "Must Watch of the Week” when it debuted on A E on December 11, 2006, was nominated for a GLAAD Award as Outstanding Television Movie or Mini-Series. Directed by Jim Fall (The Lizzie McGuire Movie) and written by Stephen Mazar (Liar, Liar), the telemovie was executive produced by the multiple Emmy® nominated producing partners Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago, TV’s "The Reagans”).
