REGARDLESS of whether Amy Pearson's debut album is a hit, the expat Brit will know she's given it her best shot. Pearson has been working on the yet-to-be-titled album for more than two years and, if you count the years of trying to get a record deal, it's been a long time coming for the 21-year-old. With her debut single, , out now, years of anticipation are finally over.
There is nothing else I want to do, Pearson told Insider. If it goes bad, I'll have to keep trying and sing in a bar or something because that is it. But I have a lot of faith and I am still young so I don't feel that bad.
More often than not, Australian artists head overseas to make it big once they've had a hint of success locally. But for Amy, it happened the other way round - she travelled to Australia from the UK to pursue her dream. She was discovered in her home town of Birmingham by SonyBMG Australia's artist and repertoire director, Jay Dee Springbett.
She didn't have to think hard about moving to Australia when offered a recording deal two years ago. Pearson left school at the age of 15. There's no doubting her unique talent and listening to her music, there are definite tones of Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
Since coming to Australia, she's got more in touch with her rock side and describes her music as pop rock with soul . I am not grown up yet and what I don't want to show people is this wise old woman, she explained. I have still got a long way to go.
I am trying to figure myself out through a lot of the songs. REGARDLESS of whether Amy Pearson's debut album is a hit, the expat Brit will know she's given it her best shot.
