WENATCHEE -- Wenatchee struck early and, although Eisenhower regrouped, the Cadets were unable to fully recover as the Panthers held on for a 2-1 victory in a CBL 4A district soccer match Thursday.
The loss ended Ike's season. Wenatchee advances to play at Davis at 1 p.
m. on Saturday at Davis Field in one semifinal.
Wenatchee struck for both scores in the opening nine minutes, getting goals from Andy Garcia at 4:55, and Tomas Sauceda at 8:40.
Ike cut the deficit in half when Felipe Ruelas at 66:28, but Panthers goalie Noe Luna and the rest of the defense held firm to preserve the victory.
Luna recorded six saves.
In Thursday's other district match, Moses Lake posted a 4-3 double-overtime victory at Richland.
Moses Lake travels to Pasco in Saturday's other district semifinal.

LYLE -- Cord Cothren threw a four-hitter in the opener, and Lyle rallied with seven unanswered runs to complete a sweep of Riverside Christian in a Greater Columbia B League baseball doubleheader Thursday.
Lyle won the opener 2-1 as Cothren struck out seven, and then took the nightcap 7-6.
In the second game, Lyle pulled even with a five-run sixth, and then scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.
Tyler Doornink allowed three hits and struck out seven in the opener, and Ryan Van Beek went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the second game for Riverside Christian (6-6, 9-10).
