Greenlight winner in spotlight at Jewish Film Festival

The Marwil festival, which originated in Detroit nine years ago, was spun off to Flint in 2005. It's sponsored here by the Flint Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Services Institute of Arts, 1120 E.

Kearsley St., Sunday through The mission is to "educate, entertain and expand beyond the Jewish community," said Karen Schneider of Flint Township, chairperson of the local event. The festival also plays in the Detroit area, Ann Arbor and Windsor.


Two speakers are appearing at the festival. Filmmaker Mark Lane of "Checking Out" and Schuli Eschel, director to the Olympics," will talk about their films after the Admission prices are $10 per showing, $40 per person for a festival pass. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the Flint Jewish Federation, (810) 767-5922.

Sunday - "Stolen Summer" (2003). Written by Pete Jones, is the winner of Matt Damon's series, the country saw Pete's journey from script to screen. Starring Quinn and Hunt, it's a slice-of-life period piece, set in 1970s Chicago, about a friendship he's determined to convert.
